How to Find Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings in Your Area

Alcoholics anonymous meets regularly in every state across the United States.  This organization helps men and women to stay sober.  The best way to find information about alcoholics anonymous is to visit their website at www.aa.org.  The website has many helpful articles on it for people to learn from.  Many drug and alcohol treatment centers have AA meetings that get together regularly.  It is important to understand that your sobriety is important.  If you wish to remain drug and alcohol free for life, it is necessary to get in a support group that will help you to stay that way.  Getting sober takes time and effort.

AA has many publications for people that have alcoholism.  Many friends, parents and family members depend on AA to guide and direct them when it comes to a family member that may be in need.

Staying committed to a program for life makes sense.  In order to find happiness and freedom in your life, attending a group meeting is perfect for you.  Some of their approved publications are:

1)      Dr. Bob and the Good Old Timers.  A biography, with recollections of early A.A. in the Midwest.

2)      Alcoholics Anonymous comes of age.

3)      Pass it on.  The story of Bill Wilson and how the A.A. message reached the world.

4)      As Bill Sees It.  The A.A. way of life.

The organization also has a newsletter that it sends to its members.  They have many audio archives that help people to listen to others stories.  If that is not enough, there are digital archives that are helpful for many people as well.

You can get information in English, Spanish and French as well.  In every state, people are struggling with alcohol and drug related issues.  Each year, AA helps thousands of people from around the world.

Many ex-alcoholics and drug addicts say that having a buddy that you can call when you are going through a hard time is beneficial.  You can actually benefit from this because your buddy can talk you out of grabbing that next alcoholic beverage or taking drugs.  Friends and family members help us to see our life in new ways.

The organization was founded in 1935 and is around 75 years old.  AA has become a household name.  The organization is based on psychological techniques and there are around 80,000 local groups in the United States.

If you have time to read Bill Wilson’s story, you will find that he was able to overcome alcoholism through faith in God.  He realized that he could not do it alone.  When he found his faith, he stopped drinking for good.
